The organizing committee welcomes you to Elche!

Welcome to the 2024 European Empirical Legal Studies (ELS) Conference, organized by the European Society for Empirical Legal Studies (ESELS), the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law of Miguel Hernández University, and CRÍMINA Center for the study and prevention of crime.

The Conference will take place in Elche, Spain. It will be hosted at the Universidad Miguel Hernández from 20-21 June 2024. We organize a welcome reception on the 19th of June at 18:00 and the conference ends on the 21st of June no later than 17:00.

The Conference will offer you an attractive opportunity to engage, discuss and present your research results in the field of empirical legal research with other international and European empirical legal scholars.

For the 2024 ESELS Conference, we invite everyone involved in legal research using qualitative and/or quantitative methods to submit abstracts that may focus on ongoing or completed research about the assumptions, the functioning, and/or the impact of the law.

Conference registration is possible until 1 June 2024. Please note the option to join the conference dinner on 20 June (limited seats).

How to get to Miguel Hernández University?

The Elche bus station is located in front of the campus, at an approximate 10-minute walk. While
the closest train station to Miguel Hernández University is Elche-Parque/Elx-Parc, it is about 13
minutes away by foot.

By car:

The Miguel Hernández University has several free-access parking spaces distributed
throughout its campus. To find out the locations, click on the university map.

By Urban Bus:

Lines D, F, K1, K2 and R1 with nearby stops at 236 – in front of the La Galia building -,
321 – south entrance 2 – and 296 – in front of the Rectorate and Social Council building
(this is the building located below where the conference is held).
Stops 90 and 91 correspond to the train and bus stations, respectively.

By Commuter Train:

To get from Alicante to the Miguel Hernández University it is necessary to take a
commuter train (in spanish “cercanías”) to Elche (commuter train Murcia-Alicante). The
frequency of the commuter train is approximately 1 hour, and the Alicante-Elche
journey takes approximately 30 minutes. The closest stop to the Miguel Hernández
University is: ELCHE PARQUE/ELX PARC.
