Pre-conference activities
ESELS Workshops
Every year the European Society for Empirical Legal Studies (ESELS) provides pre-conference workshops open to all registrants. These interactive workshops provide a great opportunity for lawyers and scholars working in the legal field to learn more about a particular empirical method (quantitative/qualitative) from experts in the field as well as from fellow participants.
The workshops (free of charge) typically last about 3 to 4 hours and are organized the day before our annual conference (fully on-site) at the location of the conference building. The aim is to promote and disseminate in-depth methodological knowledge and best practices to an audience of scholars interested in and/or actively working on empirical-legal projects.
Examples of workshops from previous years include Computational Legal Methods, Systematic Case-Law Analysis and Interviewing.
No-Show Policy
Please note that the workshops are given by experts in the field who do this on a voluntary basis. Places are limited and we often have people on the waiting list.
In case you are prevented from attending the workshop, kindly send an email to well before the workshop to make space available for people on the waiting list.
If you do not attend the workshop without prior cancellation, you will unfortunately no longer be able to register for future workshops. This is very unfortunate, but can easily be prevented with a simple e-mail.
